Chrome plating is a process to cover the surface of metal using other metal which have better characteristic such as stand to corrode. Plating process to the steel is by dissolving of metal substance like chromium metal in certain chemicals or solution to make chromium III ion in the solution. This positive ion the is charged by DC source make the positive ion is move to negative pole and plated there. Negative pole is a metal that will plated by this chrome metal which have better resistance to corrode and better performance like hard chrome or bright chrome.
Each solution to make hard chrome is different with solution to make bright chrome. Other type of chrome plating is black chrome that use solution of oxalic acid mixed with sulfuric acid on the bath chrome solution. The natural plated of chrome plating is white rather gray color of chrome plated and this color will change depend on the electric current force or Ampere and the time of plating. More longer time to plate the color more gray and even change to black color but can’t bright black color. To make the plating color of chrome plating become bright it need additive chemical called as brightener agent.
