Everybody sometime shopping a steel in material store or in Supermarket, for many purpose. It could be for appliance needed for your home, or buy in material because you need for steel construction. Sometime we just choose this is better and those are bad, without any explanation from the store why this is good or this better. We just believe in to the store keeper that often don't have any knowledge of steel quality.
You buy a knife because it look sharp and bright without any explanation how long it can be sharp, and how often we use and still sharp. Sometime the knife only sharp for a moment, after use several times the knife is not sharp anymore even we try to sharpen the knife but it can't be sharpen like the new one. The best quality of steel for knife it must be made from hard steel that on science field say high carbon steel. To make a knife we need carbon sheet steel to form a knife. Home industry maker usually use scrap steel to make it, of course it should be from high carbon steel.
Steel for house building is different type, depend on the need it can be steel for structure or for decorative purpose. For decorative purpose, generally can use stainless steel. Stainless steel have many grade type, each grade type have different price. For Stainless steel 316 is expensive compare to stainless steel 314. But all type of stainless steel can be formed into a bright steel after special finishing treatment.
